In Conway Data Inc. (CDI), IAMC has a management company that brings a distinctly long, successful history in association management to the table. CDI has been providing association management services since 1949, when Chairman McKinley Conway served as executive director of the Southern Assn. of Science & Industry (SASI). A NASA scientist, Conway fruitfully focused SASI on applying technology to the field of planned economic development.
In 1961, Conway founded the Industrial Development Research Council (later renamed the International Development Research Council Ñ IDRC). With its focus on research, education and networking, IDRC became the premier marketplace for corporate real estate professionals, economic developers and service providers. Under CDI's management, IDRC ultimately grew to a 3,600-member global organization, with 47 chapters spanning five continents. CDI managed IDRC's affairs from its founding until its merger with NACORE earlier this year.
CDI Provides Online Pioneering,
Provides IAMC's Official Publication
CDI under Conway's leadership has also been a groundbreaker in online media. In 1983, CDI launched SiteNet, the first electronic network for real estate management and economic development. CDI has continued to be an online pioneer through efforts that include the award-winning
Site Selection Online Insider, as well as other leading-edge new media services.
In 2002, Conway founded IAMC with a distinct niche in mind: The new association provides education and networking for professionals interested in learning the best strategies for specifically supporting the real estate and asset-management needs of manufacturing and industrial operations.
In addition to IAMC, CDI has other prominent association-management clients. Those clients include the National Assn. of Professional Organ-izers, the U.S.-Cuba Trade Assn., the World Development Federation, and the Field-Certified Professional Assn.
CDI publishes
Site Selection (
www.siteselection.com), a 47-year-old, award-winning magazine focused on corporate real estate strategy. Site Selection is now IAMC's official publication, providing the association with a high-profile global audience. The magazine is distributed to more than 40,000 worldwide executives responsible for site selection and facility planning decisions around the world.
